Go Deeper to Reflect Christ- GPCC President urged Christian Leaders

 

The President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), Apostle Dr. Eric Nyamekye, has called on Church leaders and believers to have a personal relationship with God to reflect Christ.

Speaking with GPCC News on a sideline interview at the 2026 Conference of Heads of Church and Organisations at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC) on 4th February 2026, Apostle Dr. Nyamekye explained that the gathering is not just a routine, but a structured program to reform and transform all church leaders and para-church Organisations in the GPCC fraternity.

“This is an annual conference. It’s not just a repeated tradition,” he said. “Every year, we want to meet our pastors and organizations so that we can train them. As heads of churches, iron sharpens iron.”

Reflecting Christ

He noted that the theme for this year’s conference, “Reflecting Christ,” underscores the need for believers—especially church leaders—to immerse themselves deeply in the things of God.

“If we really want to reflect Christ, then we must get deep into the things of God,” he emphasized. Drawing biblical parallels, Apostle Dr. Nyamekye cited the example of Moses, who, after spending time with God on Mount Sinai, returned with such divine radiance that he had to veil his face before the people.

“When we get into the depths of God, we will be able to reflect Christ,” he explained. “I am not talking about physical shining, but coming with deep spiritual substance—things that can build the church and help us carry the burden of the nation.”

He stressed that drawing closer to God is not about physical distance, but about spiritual depth and intensity of fellowship. According to him, closeness to God produces insights that are rich, beneficial, and transformative for both the church and society.

Apostle Dr. Nyamekye further clarified that the call to spiritual depth is not limited to the clergy alone.

“This call is not only for church leaders. It is for every Christian—whether clergy or laity, royalty or commoner,” he said.

He referenced the biblical figure Daniel, who, despite being a slave in Babylon, distinguished himself through deep spiritual discipline- mediation, prayer, fasting, and moral excellence.

“Daniel had an excellent spirit,” he noted. “They looked for faults in him but found none. That character flowed from his deep encounter with God.”

The GPCC President concluded by encouraging Christians to pursue deeper intimacy with God, assuring that such depth would result in personal transformation, a stronger church, and ultimately, the moral impact on the nation.

“When we go deep with God, He blesses us and uses us to bless the church—and by extension, the nation,” he said.
