OUR HISTORY



The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council was founded in early 1969. Its maiden meeting was held on March 3rd, 1969 at the Assemblies of God Evangel Church, Adabraka, under the name “Ghana Evangelical Fellowship” (GEF).

It was intended to be a link between member churches and the Association of Evangelicals of Africa and Madagascar (AEAM).

The following Ministers were present: Rev. Austin Ofori Addo and Rev. James Ghartey (The Apostolic Church), Rev. James Mckeown and Rev. J. Egyir Paintsil (The Church of Pentecost), Rev. Robert L. Cobb, Rev. Djan Fosu, and Rev. Edwin Ziemann ( Assemblies of God Church, Rev. David Mills and Rev. David Tenobi (Elim Pentecostal Church), Rev. Daniel K. Saforo (Christ Apostolic Church), Gregory Francis (W.E.C Mission), Ross Gaskin (W.E.C. Mission), George A. Nicholas (Bible Society of Ghana), Calan Morris (Scripture Union), Allan Konrad (Lutheran Church of God).

The historic motion for the formation of the Ghana Evangelical Fellowship was moved by Rev. James Mckeown, the then Chairman of The Church of Pentecost and was seconded by Rev. Daniel K. Saforo of the Christ Apostolic Church. The motion was unanimously carried.

The GEF was official inaugurated on Thursday, November 6, 1969, at the Bible House, Accra. The founding member churches were: Assemblies of God Church, The Church of Pentecost, Elim Pentecostal Churches, The Christ Apostolic Church and the Apostolic Church.
