GPCC President Calls for Unity Among Descendants of the Anim-McKeown Church traditions

The President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), Apostle Eric Nyamekye, who also serves as the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, has made a passionate appeal for unity among the leadership of the three churches that trace their origins back to the Anim-McKeown church traditions.

These churches—The Apostolic Church -Ghana, Christ Apostolic Church International, and The Church of Pentecost—are urged to work together as one body of Christ to advance the Kingdom of God.

Apostle Nyamekye issued this call on Friday during the Western Regional edition of the All Ministers and Wives Conference at the Assemblies of God, Ghana, Word of Life Auditorium in Takoradi.

Unity in the Body of Christ

The President of GPCC emphasized the importance of unity in the body of Christ, contrasting it with the negative effects of division. To illustrate his point, he invited Apostle Dr. Aaron Ami-Narh, President of The Apostolic Church Ghana, and Apostle Samuel Amponsah -Frimpong, Chairman of the Christ Apostolic Church International, to join him on stage, symbolizing the unity he envisions.

In his address, he acknowledged that misunderstandings leading to splits among the churches had caused significant harm to the spread of the gospel. However, he expressed gratitude that these differences had been resolved, and the churches had chosen to work together in unity.

He extended his call for unity beyond these three churches, urging churches within the GPCC to set aside rivalries and unite in fulfilling their God-given mandate. Apostle Nyamekye stressed that denominations are simply strategic means of reaching diverse groups of people and should not be a source of division among believers, who are all united in Christ.

Additionally, Apostle Nyamekye cautioned ministers against inciting religious sentiments, particularly in the lead-up to the 2024 general elections. He advised prophets who receive revelations about the election outcomes to refrain from making public declarations to avoid potential chaos.

In attendance

The event was attended by prominent figures, including Rev. Stephen Wengan, General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, and Bishop Emmanuel Botwe of Christian Faith Church International, both members of the National Executive Council of the GPCC. Other dignitaries included Apostle Immanuel Tettey, General Secretary of GPCC, Apostle Sylvester Arhin, Executive Council Member of the Church of Pentecost and Apostle James Tettey, the Western Regional Chairman of GPCC.

The call for unity by Apostle Nyamekye serves as a significant step toward healing old wounds and fostering a spirit of cooperation and shared purpose among Christian denominations in Ghana and beyond. The program recorded over 1,500 participants from the Western Region.

The atmosphere was electrified with the power of God, making it a truly powerful experience. The next program is expected to come on at Tamale in October it promises to another powerful experience.
