A Member of the National Executive Council of Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, Bishop Charles Agyinasare has assure Ghanaians that he will continue to speak out against the unacceptable acts of political leaders and societal ills to promote national development.
According to him, his recent criticism of government has resulted in insults, threats and name calling, but he will continue to speak against what has become an abuse of leadership positions and insults against men of God to speak out.
The Founder and Presiding Bishop of Perez Chapel International said this when giving a sermon themed “There is a cause for integrity and honesty” through the “Virtual Church” last Sunday.
The Bishop recently came under heavy criticism from some sympathisers of the governing New Patriotic Party for questioning the rationale and modus of closing down some financial institutions in Ghana.
He, however said “My amazement is whether it has come to the place in democratic Ghana, where I speak and people who are not happy and instead of they saying they disagree with me and stating their side, some of them issue threats, some insult me and people are saying Charles, you must be afraid, beef up your security and don’t sleep at home.”
Bishop Agyinasare pointed out, “I am on a divine assignment for national transformation and let me ask you: is there not a cause for national transformation? I am talking and I challenge you to join me in this cause. If anyone asks you why you are talking these days about societal ills, ask them: ‘Is there not a cause?
“Some of my loved ones said these politicians and their supporters are dangerous. They can do something against you,” he disclosed.
Change for good governance
Calling for change, he indicated that, there is so much not right about this country and we must start somewhere to talk about it, so, we can change it.
According to him political positions in Ghana have been reduced to thuggery and violence where it has become dangerous to criticize political leaders and called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and former President John Dramani Mahama to change the narrative.
“Well, our senior politicians, H.E Nana Akufo-Addo and H.E John Dramani Mahama, that is how much your noble profession has been reduced to. It is being said and perceived that you and your fellows hire thugs to beat and even get people killed because they disagree with you,” he added.
Bishop Agyinasare said his intentions are non-political. “I am not a politician and not aspiring to be one. The world is my parish and I am called to reach the world for Christ”, adding: “England was changed by the preaching of John Wesley when it was in filth; he preached till people thought ‘cleanliness is next to godliness’ was in the Bible”.
