A member of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, Apostle James K. Abbrey has noted that, Ghanaians would bounce back stronger than what they expected after the COVID-19 pandemic is over.
According to him, this situation would make government and the churches put proper measures especially social intervention programmes in place so that the country can deal with such unfortunate circumstances in future.
Unexpected Situation
Reacting to the pandemic in an interview with GPCC NEWS Team, he indicated that, God created human beings in such a way that every human being reacts to unexpected situations differently, therefore it is normal for Ghanaians to react to the crisis but would create something positive out of it.
“As humans we react to unexpected situation but when we settle down and analyse the situation or access the situation, we then accept the situation and bounce back stronger than before,” he said.
According to him, the church is made up of different professionals hence when government puts measures in place to ease financial burden for other institutions or companies, it automatically impacts on the church hence the government does not need to give churches special support before they know the government is helping the church.
“When churches put up social intervention programmes, the government will rally behind them so members can be impacted positively, but the church is only collecting monies without any projects especially social intervention, it will be very difficult to receive government support,” Apostle said.
“The interest is not about the church nor the mosque, but the people”, Apostle Abbrey explained, saying, in every nation every member counts therefore it is the responsibility of government to ensure that the poor are not poorer and rich are not richer L, but must rather put measures in place that would benefit all citizens.
Citizens belong to the nation
Touching on the role of the government, Apostle Abbrey who is the Head Pastor of the Divine Builders Bible Church indicated that, every government voted into power must take the protection, provision and security of every citizen into better consideration as every citizen belongs to the nation.
Adding that, the church has realised that its members do not belong to them, but the nation.
Therefore, he said the ban on churches were measures by the government to protect every citizen in the country.
He assured Ghanaians that the COVID-19 pandemic is not here to end the world but there is hope and future for every Ghanaian, therefore “we should abide by the safety protocols as a way to prevent the spread of the pandemic.”
Doing this, he said would protect lives as he believes the situation would surely pass away.
Apostle stressed that, the Church will not remain the same but for the betterment of its members.
Commenting on tithes and offerings, he pointed out that, the church would not stop receiving, noting that, the grateful ones would continue to give the tithes and offerings as a way to express their gratitude to God.
