The President of Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), Rev. Prof. Paul Frimpong-Manso has urged the youth to work hard and refrain from being used by politicians in the 2020 general elections.
He said as Ghana approached the 2020 polls, the youth must not be lured to carry out violent acts designed by politicians but be focus and work hard for themselves.
Rev Frimpong-Manso made this call in an interview with GPCC NEWS.
Youth must not be used
“Politicians do not have anything for you, they will engage you for their profitable ventures and damp you, therefore you have to take charge of your lives and doing this you will impact Ghana positively,” he stressed.
Advising the youth, Rev. Frimpong-Manso indicated that, it is high time they stopped relying on politicians and start doing something for themselves so as to become the change agents in their communities and the country as a whole.
Condemning some acts of the youth, the President pointed out that communities such as Nima, Ashiaman, Tamale, Ashtown and others must stop using the motorbike carelessly and making unnecessary noise in town with the potential of creating chaos and instability during elections.
The President of the Council further said such acts often led to deaths and destruction of properties. “We must be wise and use our time fruitfully and stop allowing ourselves to be used for campaigns” he advised.
The youth he said, “Must not allow themselves to be used as political tool to subvert the will of the people by the same politicians who have brought this mess to the country.”
Unity among Political Parties
Touching on unity among politicians, Rev. Frimpong-Manso mentioned that, the country is under-developed because there is no unity and honesty. He thus, called on politicians to put partisan politics aside and focus on the national interest.
“Polarisation is not helping the country, therefore there should be oneness so that they can fight against poverty, hunger and corruption that has taken root in this country among other things fight against the development of the country,” he advised politicians.
According to him, the government claims to be fighting against corruption but the perception was still there. He urged government to fight hard to uproot corruption in the country because he believes doing this would bring development into the country.
He also believes that unity and honesty among political parties could be the road map to development of the nation.
