The Greater Accra Regional Women’s wing of Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) has donated a cheque for 10,000 Ghana cedis and a quantity of assorted medicines and supplies to the Korle-Bu Maternity Ward as part of activities marking the Council’s Golden Jubilee anniversary celebration.
The donation was to support the hospital to provide quality health care for the under-privileged in the society.
Presentation of Items
Making the presentation , the leader of the group Miss Sabina Yawson said as women they have the health care of women in the country at heart therefore as they celebrate the goodness of God they decided to visit the ward and show them love.
Miss Yawson said they realised that most patients at the maternity ward could not pay their medical bills even though they have been discharged so they decided to give their widow’s mite.
“Christianity is not only in the church or house of God rather to seek the welfare of the vulnerable in the society,” she said.
The Midwifery Officer, Miss Promise Amagadzie who received the items on behalf of the Chief Nursing Officer, Mrs Mary Eshun expressed her appreciation and noted that the donation would go a long way to help them.
“We are grateful for the donation and we believe this will go a long way to improve the health of patients and the total management of the department,” she said.
She hoped the group would visit them again to help the Maternity Ward promote better health care for mother and child.
Ms. Yawson led the team to go round the ward to see the patients. They prayed for them and shared words of exhortation to encourage the women.
