The District Pastor of Odorkor Central The Apostolic Church, Ghana, Pastor Bernard Boakye Dankwa has stated that, pastors among other church leaders have deviated from the basic message of the word of God.
According to him, many so called pastors and men of God have failed to focus on the main vision of the universal Church which must centre on the Kingdom of God and promotion of love, unity and peace,.
He noted that these persons instead engage in exploiting the ignorance and desperation of people for their personal glorification.
“We must begin to preach the gospel of Christ, walk in His ways and do the things of His commandments. It is very important to reverse the preaching of our message so we can build a positive society,” he said.
Preach the Basic Message
Pastor Dankwa said this in an interview with GPCC NEWS during the GPCC week celebration at Odorkor Central of The Apostolic Church, Ghana in Accra.
According to him, there is a need for leaders to preach the right messages in their pulpit to address peculiar problems in the country including corruption and fornication.
“Jesus Christ came to die for our soul but not the personal being or not the human body and the soul pursue spiritual things therefore Christians should walk spiritually not materially or physically,” he said.
He urged the clergy to seek to bring to the Christian community the unadulterated salvation message of Jesus Christ to enable Christians to sustain their salvation, particularly in these end times.
Advising Ghanaians, he pointed out that, they must avoid excessive materialism and insatiable quest for wealth which has contributed to the increasing rates of crimes and other social vices in the Ghanaian society.
The man of God stressed that, the clergy must provide the needed leadership to restore hope to the society.
Holiness is Key
According to him, many of the religious leaders seldom talk about God’s salvation promise, having put prosperity at the centre of everything, adding that Christianity was not simply about money-making or performing miracles as some pastors would want the world to accept.
“Jesus lived a life of holiness, therefore as Christians we need to live a life of holiness so we can be like him,” Pastor Dankwa urged.
He expressed the view that where ever God appears there is holiness so when God is in you, you must live a holy life if you are a Christian, adding that, one cannot say he or she is a Christian and does not walk in the ways of God.
“The blessings God packaged in heaven is for us, but the only way you can receive it is living a holy life,” he said.
Pastor Dankwa expressed dissatisfaction with messages leaders preach in their pulpit where they always talk about prosperity without touching on fornication among other immoral behaviour which is really affecting the moral fibre of the country.
