Apostle Eric Kwabena Nyamekye, the new Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, has formally been inducted to office at a special ceremony in Accra.
The 53-year old Apostle of the Church of Pentecost is the Sixth Chairman of one of the leading Pentecostal churches in the world.
Induction
The historic event which was graced by the 1st Deputy Speaker of Parliament of the Republic of Ghana, Honourable Joe Osei Wusu, the General Secretary of Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), Rev. Emmanuel T. Barrigah, Former Chairman of the Church, Apostle Dr Michael Ntumy, General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Ghana ,Rev. Prof. Paul Frimpong Manso, Founder and General overseer of Perez Chapel International, Bishop Charles Agyinasare, Rev Clement Anchebah of the Fountain Gate Chapel, Rev. Dr Joyce Aryee, a delegation from the Elim Pentecostal Churches, UK, and other heads of churches and para-church organisations across the world.
Others dignitaries present to grace the occasion were the Deputy Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Elizabeth Sackey, Paramount Chief of Asokore Traditional Council and Member of National Peace Council, Nana Dr. Susubiribi Krobea Asante, and Dr. Nii Kotei Dzani, President of Groupe Ideal and Member of Council of State, among many others.
The Growth of the Church
Addressing the congregation, the immediate-past Chairman, Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah, called on the members of the Church to wholeheartedly accept the new leader, obey, respect, support and submit to his authority, so that he will have the peace of mind to work with joy.
This, he said, would be to the benefit of the Church as it would lead to the growth of the Church in all spheres.
Early this year, Apostle Nyamekye who was called into full-time ministry in 1991 won the vote by an overwhelming margin to become the Chair of the CoP to succeed Apostle Onyinah, who has successfully ended his two consecutive 5-year terms in office, Apostle Nyamekye got 994 out of 1009 votes representing 98 per cent.

Apostle Eric Kwabena Nyamekye was born on October 21, 1965, to Mr Stephen Antiedu Nyamekye (late) and Agnes Owusu in Asokore-Ashanti.
He completed Tema Secondary School in 1983 and proceeded to Nyankpala Agric College in the Northern Region, where he obtained a certificate in General Agriculture in 1986.
He also holds a diploma in Human Resource Management from the Institute of Commercial Management, U.K., a post-graduate Diploma in Applied Theology from the University of Manchester, U.K., and a Master of Arts Degree in Religious Studies from the University of Ghana, Legon.
He is currently a PhD student at the Stellenbosch University, South Africa.
