The President of Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah has stated that ministers of God struggle in ministry when they do not seek the face of God.
According to him, sometimes ministers of God may be doing things which they think is the will of God, but they turn out to be enemies of God.
At a conference organised by GPCC for Heads of Churches, Apostle Onyinah advised that, every minister of God must seek the will of God, because without the will of God they could not get positive results.
“You must pray and come to the acknowledgement what God wants you to do,” he said.
Will of God
Apostle Onyinah who would soon retire as the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost (COP) noted that, many people use the name of religion to cause havoc through killing, shooting and slaughtering people by saying glory be to God.
“May be you are not killing but extracting money from the poor people and thinking that you are doing the will of God,” he added.
The Man of God stressed that ministers of God may be praying, fasting and jumping up and down thinking they are doing many things for the Lord whereas they may be going astray.
“What is the will of God in your ministry? You need to identify what God wants you to do, otherwise you may be chasing the wind and running outside the lane and once you run outside the lane, you do not get any award or prize for your hard work,” he stressed.
How to achieve the will of God
The only way a minister of God could identify the will of God, Apostle Onyinah said was through studying the bible, “it is the responsibility of every pastor to read the bible and study it.”
“If you do not read or study the bible, you would not know the will of God,” the Clergyman emphasised.
Good fellowship, he said was another way of identifying the will of God because, gathering as ministers of God by sharing ideas and fellowshipping together, “we turn to learn from each other directly or indirectly.”
He, therefore said, mentoring is very important at every stage as a minister of God in order to achieve the will of God.
“If we are outside the will of God, things may not go well with us, but in our minds we may be thinking we are doing a lot for God,” Apostle Onyinah said.
Apostle Onyinah who is also a member of the National Peace Council (NPC), mentioned that, as ministers of God, if they are not able to achieve what God wants them to do, then it means they would not be able to fulfil their ministry.
Citing an instance of how the will of God operates in ministry, he explained that, when someone is loading credit on the phone and the person misses one of the digits, it would never work until the person gets all the digits right.
Similarly, he said “when you work according to the will of God, everything goes on well with you but, without the will of God, the individual will always struggle.”
