The Head Pastor of Lifeline Assemblies of God in the Kaneshie District, Accra, Rev. Jacob Botchway has called on Christians to live righteously for a better Ghana.
According to him, Ghana’s 25 million population is composed of about 70 per cent Christians, 17 per cent Muslims and 5 per cent Traditionalists, so if Christians change their ways and live a holy life, the country would develop because they are in the majority.
Giving a sermon last Sunday, Rev. Botchway noted, it is rather unfortunate that Christians are the ones committing sin in the country, adding that, they sin under the cover of church.
Live a Holy Life
“If the entire Christian community in the country will live a holy life, the country will be a better place for us all,” he said.
Rev Botchway mentioned that, the immoral acts, pilfering, corruption among other acts are rising and he believes there are Christians in every organisation involved in these evil acts.
Expressing keen interest in developing the country, he pointed out that, if Christians would live a Christ-like life in their various organisations, it would bring a significant change and increase productivity in the Country.
The Man of God indicated that, sometimes the problems and challenges individuals go through are not caused by the devil but their own attitude and behaviour.
In a sermon titled “what God has done through Christ for the sinful man”, Rev Botchway stressed that, “Christ has become our redemption,” hence God is ready to redeem individuals from their sins and problems if they would get committed to the things of God.
“Christ is the redemption of God, and in Christ, we are counted like God.” He said.
Reading from Colossians 1:4, he pointed out that, Christians should put their faith and trust in God and he will give them new hope.
Obey the Commandments
Rev Botchway pointed out that it is incumbent on all Christians to take what they believe seriously. “We know what it takes for us to discipline ourselves and be a responsible people. It takes effort, and therefore the Christian message is really calling us to do so,” he noted.
Advising Christians, he noted that, they should not focus on material things but rather focus on God because, “when you have Christ, you have everything”, hence should obey the commandments of God so that they would enjoy all the good things God has planned and prepared for them.
“When you miss Christ, you miss whatever God has prepared for you, therefore you need to focus on God in order not to miss Christ,” he said.
