BIBLE VERSE OF THE DAY

GPCC CALLS FOR CALM IN GHANA

The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council wishes to express its concern over the tension that has been caused by various labour unrests in the nation, primarily as a result of the implementation of the Single Spine Salary policy.

The Council wishes to appeal to all workers who are yet to be migrated onto the scheme to exercise great restraint and approach the process with an open mind, knowing that implementing any new scheme and especially one of such magnitude can be fraught with such challenges.

We particularly call on the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission to exhibit much more transparency in handling various sectors in the labour front, and as much as possible, avoid acts that will breed misunderstanding and confrontation with, and among organised labour groups.

We appeal to the government through its various Ministries and departments, to get on top of issues as and when they arise, so as to avoid the festering of such cases as what happened in the strike by doctors, which unfortunately dragged on for three weeks. We also appeal to government spokespersons to be circumspect in their speech, as the Bible clearly admonishes that a soft answer turns away wrath, but grievous words stir up anger (Prov. 15:1).

Finally, the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council wishes to express our deepest appreciation to the doctors who returned to their duty posts out of humanitarian considerations. The Council appeals to the National Labour Commission to speed up its arbitration process to achieve a very appreciable resolution.

God bless our nation as we labour together to see it become prosperous.

APOSTLE DR. OPOKU ONYINAH
